fame is so fleeting

what with farrah fawcett's death and then the world-wide media frenzy that is the death of michael jackson, everyone has totally forgotten that jon and kate ever existed. the cloud of dirt and gravel that flew into the air as every single paparazzi high-tailed it out of reading, pa on the way to some sort of michael jackson coverage ("i'm here in peoria with the first cousin of michael jackson's best friend's roomate's brother's uncle's gardener's sister's plumber...") was stunning. no one is watching kate smack her children or watching jon smack the butt of some nubile preschool teacher. finally, they have peace and quiet. so much so that the felt the need to issue this statement: "during this very difficult time we will be working to focus solely on the needs of our family. this includes no longer commenting publicly or reacting to media stories and speculation. our goal is to do the very best for our children and that will be done as privately as possible." translation: "do you hear that media? we're not talking to you. do you understand? hey, where'd everyone go? we're not taaalllkkkking!! come back here and watch us not talk!!!!!" sigh.
