patti lupone's mid-performance freak out

in case you're behind on the latest broadway gossip: during the closing weekend of "patti lupone in gypsy" (i think that's how it's actually billed) right before "rose's turn" *the* number in the show everyone waits to see (after sitting through the 3 or 4 hours that preceed it), apparently an audience member was taking photos of miss lupone. well, so much for the show must go on. lupone stopped the show, launched into a 3 or 4 minute harangue at the person(s) and, actually, to anyone in the audience that might ever think of taking a photo. ever. again. in their lives. i'm actually a fan of miss lupone's. and god knows theatre audiences get more and more annoying as the days go by. but this is certainly questionable behavior. google it and you'll find people pretty much spit into thirds: first group thinks she was right and the guy should be castrated. or beheaded. or something; second group thinks interrupting a show they'd paid hundreds of dollars to see was pretty unprofessional; third group was just happy to be there to see the unstable screams of a broadway legend. anyway, so apparently someone was simultaneously making an audio tape of the show. mega-illegal. but captured the entire incident. you can find it on the web. it's actually almost 4 minutes long and gets pretty monotonous and boring after a while. but someone made this ingenious youtube video that captures the highlights. enjoy!
